BTEC Level 2 Award
This course is taught in one year and is equivalent to one
GCSE. If you are interested in working within the health
care sector in the future, then this is a stepping stone to
a fulfilling career. The course covers a range of topics
including: human lifespan development, equality in the
health and social care sector, effective communication,
food and nutrition. An interest in the care sector is
essential.
With the Level 2 qualification, you are then in a position
to access Level 3 courses at college, complete an
apprenticeship or enter employment.
Interested in a career in the Uniformed Protective
Services? Study a range of organisations e.g. Police, Fire
and Rescue, Ambulance, Army, Navy and others you may
not have thought about. The course focuses on learning a
wide range of skills important for Protective Service work
including communication, teamwork, fitness and health,
discipline and problem solving.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
One unit is assessed in an exam. The other three are
coursework using a range of reports, presentations,
practical tasks and role plays. The course combines theory
with active practical situations to give you experience and
an insight into the work of the uniformed services with
visits to and speakers from different organisations.
Standard Foundation Level entry requirements
This course will enable you to market yourself well to
employers or to continue onto a Level 3 Protective
Services course.

COURSE
CONTENT
This course comprises two units you take in the first term and two
in the second term. There is one examined unit and three pieces of
coursework.

• Working skills in the Public Services
• Employment in the Uniformed Public Services
• Health, fitness and lifestyle in the Public Services
