What our past & PRESENT students say
about the IB
I chose the IB as I was very interested in a globally recognised
education, which would prepare me for university and future
careers. I wanted to develop my critical thinking and have more
freedom, such as being able to choose my own topic to write an
Extended Essay on. I did not want to narrow my choices down, so I
liked that the IB provided a balanced curriculum across six
subjects, allowing me to stay well-rounded and keep my
opportunities open." Dana Wilding Honeyman (2024-2026)
“
I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities that studying at
Varndean has o昀昀ered me. I joined a variety of groups, such
as the Climate Environment Action Group, the Citizens UK Group,
as well as an external opportunity to join the youth steering group
for my Politics Project." Amelia Black (2024-2026)
“
Varndean has a strong community feel, with a diverse
student population where individuals are really valued. The
sta昀昀 are passionate and deliver various high quality courses in
the only state provider of the IB in Sussex." Kodai Dunford (2024-
“
My favourite aspect about the IB has been the sense of
community where you are all on the same journey together."
Tom Vanstone (2023-2025), Maths, University of Glasgow
“
“
I really enjoyed the international focus in subjects such as
Literature and Politics, which has opened my mind to
potentially working abroad in the future." Ayla MackroryJamieson (2023-2025), Politcs & International Relations, London
School of Economics
I look back fondly at my time at Varndean. The IB changed
the way I approach learning. It showed me just how much
there is to be learned. It instilled in me independence, curiosity, and
creativity." (Anonymous feedback provided as part of our 5
year review evaluation process)
