GROUP SIX: ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS
Chemistry (available at HL only)
The course starts with familiar ideas of atomic structure, moles, bonding and energetics
as well as trends, thermodynamics and organic chemistry. The IB curriculum deepens
your understanding of these topics, challenging you with concepts from across the
subject that link topics together and extending your appreciation of Chemistry. This
also includes important industrial and environmental aspects to the course where
you will be encouraged to consider the impact Chemistry has had on society and the
responsibilities that those connected with the chemical industry have.
We also have strong connections with both local universities and those further a昀椀eld
via talks and extra curricular competitions such as the RSC Chemistry Olympiad exam
and Cambridge Chemistry Challenge or practical challenges such as the RSC Analytical
Competition.
