Students who do not meet the entry requirements to follow an Advanced Level study
programme may choose to study a one-year Foundation Level programme instead.
To study a Foundation Level Programme, you will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 3
or above, including English. At least one GCSE should be at Grade 4 or above.
English and Maths are compulsory and will be included in your programme if a Grade 4 has
not already been achieved.

Gateway to Foundation
A one-year programme for students aged 16-18 who have recently relocated to the UK and
for whom English is a second language. Students should typically have GCSE equivalent
qualifications of Grade 3s or above.
Students will study ESOL and Maths, plus one option from Art, Biology, Games
Development or Photography.
Upon successful completion of the Gateway Year, students will have the opportunity to
progress to a Foundation Level programme of GCSE English, alongside a broader range
of GCSE and Level 2 vocational courses designed to support students with progression to
further training or employment.
