Varndean Sixth Form College is an

an extensive range of support for highachieving students to enable them to
make successful applications to the most
competitive and prestigious universities.
By joining the Aspire Programme,
students can:
acquire extra-curricular support by
taking part in masterclasses and
competitions
receive individual support throughout
the entire UCAS application process,
including writing personal statements,
preparing for pre-admission
assessments/interviews
attend talks by the admissions teams
from Oxford, Cambridge or Brighton &
Sussex Medical School
attend talks and workshops by
returning Varndean Sixth Form College
alumni
participate in external Russell Group
lectures and Oxbridge visits
Varndean Sixth Form College runs a
specialist programme of bespoke oneto-one and group support for students
wishing to progress in the fields of
medicine, veterinary science or dentistry.
This includes:
Practice interviews with Brighton &
Sussex Medical School admissions
team
Talks from alumni about their
experience of the application process,
life as an undergraduate and their
career paths.
Talks from external speakers and
participation in workshops
Support with arranging work experience
Advice on how to keep up to date with
current medical/veterinary/dental ethics
issues.
Extra-curricular activities, such as the
Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, RSC’s
Chemistry Olympiad and Annual Analyst
Competition and STEM Crest Awards.
